A traveling exhibition about design at the beginning of the new millennium
Presenting some best practice examples on global business events, ID_Berlin is showing a professional and productive design scene from Berlin
In collaboration with two friends from the University of the Arts in Berlin, we developed the concept of the ID_Berlin exhibition: presenting the work of Berlin based design studios that entered serial production by visualizing and explaining the design process that led to the final result.
After a year of working on the concept, designing the exhibition architecture and networking in the design scene, we teamed up with the IDZ – the International Design Centre of Berlin. Following, we received funding from the Berlin senate and were able to roll out the exhibition.
Small in volume, quick and easy to set up, modular and expandable; everything was optimised for smooth handling and economic transport and storage between the events. At the same time the exhibition gave deep insights to some details of the design and manufacturing process, using animated on-screen presentations and selected material from the development process to demonstrate the complexity of the industrial designer’s work.
The exhibition was shown on the Hannover Fair, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Berlin, on the Business of Design Week in Hong Kong in 2011 and at the Poznan Design Festival and the Helsinki Design Week in 2012.
