Alla fine ‒ sculptural objects
Space as beauty in itself
With the small objects “alla fine” I have designed a collection of sculptures that I have painstakingly created by hand and which are inspired by architecture and the perception of the enclosed space. The cubes made of thin wire outline an empty volume and thereby define an interior space. Depending on the viewing angle and the incidence of light, these abstract microarchitectures always appear different and project fine shadow lines onto the surface.
The sculptures can appear individually or can be stacked, nested or arranged next to each other, thus forming simple or complex spatial situations.
Each individual object requires ten hours of concentrated work as I craft the structures entirely by hand. To do this, the wires are first cut and ground and then soldered precisely at a right angle with a flame at over 900° Celsius. The soldering point then has to be cleaned and a complex, multi-stage grinding process begins. Corner by corner and wire by wire, the grinding process becomes increasingly finer in four successive passes. The brass sculptures are then polished twice to give them a high shine, while the colored versions are hand-painted three times in a row with a water-based varnish and a brush and are sanded in between.
“Alla fine” is limited to a total of 10 pieces per year. Because there are different sizes and colors, each piece only appears a maximum of two times per year. The small, delicate sculptures are packed in a wooden box, numbered and provided with a certificate of authenticity.
